Spoke Too Soon
Well, the adventures in gravity finally caught up with me.
Last night, I woke up in horrible pain on my right (non-bruised) side, around my back lower ribs. I managed to crawl carefully down the stairs, practically howling, and called Megan, who was at work. She asked me a series of questions, and I guess I answered them correctly, though she called our brother (also at work) to double-check with him. They think I might have bruised or even broken a rib or two in my fall, or maybe done something bad to a muscle or two.
It was a long night. Meg called to check in with me several times, and came to see me as soon as she got home, setting me up more comfortably on the couch and giving me still more of her stash of pain meds. She looked at it and couldn’t see any breakage or “lack of symmetry”, so it’s not as bad as it could be, but it sure ain’t fun.
I’m marooned on the couch until she wakes up this afternoon to check on me. Notice that I’m still blogging despite the pain, so maybe I really do have a problem. Is there blogging rehab?
The cats kept me company all night. Henry even sat on my lap for an extended period of time, sleeping and purring. Maybe they were worried about me, or knew something was up. Animals can surprise you. And comfort you.
I have to wonder if there’s some lesson here for me, something I’m supposed to learn from the constant pain and accidents ever since I moved. Any ideas?

Henry is emerging as quite a comforting character…right there when you need him. He is giving back some of the love you have bestowed upon him.
So sorry about your rotten night..thank goodness for your siblings
Don’t be superstitious…..these are just a set of coincidences…& a case of it never rains but it pours. Take heart…..
jxx
Hmmm, this does all sound suspicious. Perhaps a bubblewrap outfit is what you need, for the time being.
I’d send out a hug, but that would probably hurt. Instead, I’ll raise a glass and wish you well and hope you feel better soon.
Blogging with a broken rib…now that’s commitment!
I think the bubblewrap outfit sounds like a great idea. Suzy proofing! 🙂
um, maybe the message is “Pay Attention”? I say this all day long to the kids so its sort of at the top of my mind…
I hope the ribs aren’t broken. Can you get them x-rayed or something? Or do you just have to wait it all out until it heals?
and I’ll raise another glass for you, too!
I think you just need to relax and learn your way around the house, you might just be a bit nervous in your new home wanting to do too much at once. Yes, animals have this uncanny sense of danger, illness and other senses we should all have and they also give back much more love to their caretaker and loved ones, I have had many such experiences with my canine.
You’re right about paying attention! My brother said the same thing. I’d really be in trouble without my EMS trained sibs, that’s for sure. 😉
No health insurance = no x-rays. Also the thought of the windy roads to the hospital in my current condition makes me scream inside.
Guy – I think you’re right. I had all the cats with me the first night, when I was really in pain and scared, but not last night, when they must have figured I was doing better. Amazing creatures.
