Damn – when flying the broomstick last night, I lost control. I now see I lost my shoes as well! That will teach me to drink and fly.

I see this in my city (a major university town) all the time. I am not sure about the significance. Maybe a student does this when he/she
a. graduates
b. is no longer a virgin
c. turns 21

In my brother’s neighborhood there’s a pair of his shoes hanging from a telephone wire. He put them out with the trash and some teenagers came by and decided to have some fun. I think Tim was a little mortified when he first saw them – once he figured out they were his. It’s a kid thing….

Significance of this in urban, low income neighborhoods is the loss of a homie (friend).
The shoes are tossed onto the overhead lines in honor and rememberance of a slain friend or relative.

Ummmmmmm this means you either want drugs and so tells a dealer you are interested in buying , or it means that there are drugs for sale wherever the shoes are hanging. I forget which one.
