New Job

Published by at 2:44 pm under City Life,Sports,Work

Since my beloved Giants were so horrifyingly and ignominiously defeated in the very first round of the World Series playoffs*, I no longer need to sit around the house watching baseball all day (when I’m not shopping, that is).

So what the hell. Might as well start working again tomorrow.

In order to be fit for public viewing, though, I’ve spent most of the day getting pretty again. Watching the playoffs doesn’t require much in the way of grooming, and after I realized that the cats didn’t pay any more attention to me if I wore make-up or accessorized, I just stopped bothering. Really, if there’s any creature alive who is more self-absorbed than I am, it’s any given cat.

So as I write this, I am dyeing my hair (multi-tasking: new employer, take note), and have already:

1. Had a massage to deal with pre-job stress;

2. Had my eyebrows waxed so when I raise them in disdain, as so often happens, they will look perfect;

3. Had my nails done. My toenails are now metallic violet (though this will be a secret from new employer, like my pretty lingerie, and will make me feel good in the same secret luxurious way), but my fingernails are sheer and natural and elegant in (I hope) a professional manner. I’m a Gemini – what can I tell you?

So now all I gotta do is figure out how to deal with the 8 to 5 grind again, and how to fit the gym into it. Stay tuned.

*Can I just say how much I hate Juan Encarnacion? And Josh Beckett is right behind him in Suzy world.

    That’s all you’re telling us about the job?

    Yay to getting a job (assuming you wanted a job ~grin~)!

    And it sounds like a wonderful day!

    Welcome back to 9-5 😛

    We’re all waiting for the low down on the new job – hope it’s something awesome!

    On behalf of the Blue Jays and all Toronto I would like to apologise for Jose Cruz jr. Years of playing centre field on Skydome turf apparently stifled his ability to run on grass and eventually dulled his interest in catching any fly balls.

    Pehaps it is all part of the divine plan to allow the Cubs to win the Series before doomsday.

    Should the Cubbiess win against the Marlins, repent for HE is coming.

    9 to 5? I wish! It’s 8 to 5 in America, baby! At least, in this part of America.

    Jose Cruz was really painful & embarrassing. That replay just about killed me. Here’s hoping for the Cubs!

    Details of job to follow. But really: work is work and an evil necessity. Or a necessary evil.

    Oh man, you didn’t take that job you told me about that starts at 5 or some crazy shit in the morning, did you?

    I must admit I’m highly amused by this new incarnation of Suzy as Sports Suzy. Hockey season starts tonight and since I’ve been informed the Sharks are going to suck this year, I highly recommend that you watch the Wings take on the Kings tomorrow night on espn2. 😉

    Nonono, it’s 8 AM to 5 PM. Ickickick.

    Am I ready to be a hockey fan?!

    It’s now Wednesday – no news!
    Have you survived the stress?

    Baseball, hockey, I don’t know what the hell’s going on, but I draw the line at golf.

    you’re posting about sports and ball? where is the real Suzy? (don’t I remember a post where you said you didn’t like sports?)

    Well, I must say that I cried when the Cubs beat the Braves. You know the story….the 95 year drought and all….but for a longtime Cub fan, it was quite the moment. Last nights loss to the Marlins was more familiar….all those home runs they hit and low fives they do to congratulate each other….
    But tonight is another night, so now I am going to sit down and watch game 2. I have been knitting a sweater during the playoffs which will either emit joy or dispair with the wearing this winter. Tonight it is the sleeves.
    Congratulations on your new job, Suzy. I hope they let you go to a game every once in awhile next season now that you are such a fan. The kitchen sounds fabulous.
