So far…
Can I just say that going straight to the spa after saying good-bye to my Mom was one of my more genius ideas? I carried out the program as scheduled yesterday and today, and after loading Mom, her ten tons of stuff, the dog, and the cat into my godmother’s car, I went to the spa without passing Go.
I got there early, so they suggested a massage before all the other beautification, and that was one of their more genius ideas. I’m telling you: after three hours in their hands, I am completely relaxed. Not even the thought of flying to Chicago tomorrow can shatter my calm. Yet. We’ll just see what my state of mind is around boarding time tomorrow morning. But until then, I will enjoy my new-found (and almost certainly fleeting) serenity and glamorousness, and the doglessness of my house, though I will almost certainly and utterly perversely miss her. But not yet.

Do they serve peanuts at the spa? No, don’t answer that.
